Febuary means a new month!!

I had a scare the last little while. I don't know if it was from really not watching what I ate. My weight was slowly going up just after Christmas, at one point I had hit 165lbs that's 10 lbs more then I wanted to be. What people have to understand is, when you are over weight and loose that weight, it is very easy to put it back on.  I work with someone that lost allot of weight and went back to the old ways and gained around 100lbs in 6 months. In my case I think in the end it was a combination of eating like crap and not running like I did in the summer.  While I ran in the summer I could burn anywhere from 300-500 calories in one run. By burning these calories it gave me more room to eat more in my day, and enjoy "crap" like ice cream or chips. Also when you run or exercise frequently your metabolism is always running so it is easier to burn off calories even when sleeping.  If you train for a marathon you can almost consume over 3000 calories a day and not gain weight. It's amazing what your body can do when you tweak it, it's like a new electronic toy and it takes you forever too find out what it can do. That's basically what happened with me, it took me 31 years to find out how my body works.

I took control of weight once again and watched what I ate, got some exercise in and finally this morning Feb 5th 2011. I am back to my weight, well actually 153.8lbs.

I started to realize how easy it is too loose control and eat whatever and figure everything is alright. This was in the span of a month and I had gained around 10lbs..  in less then 6 months at this rate I'd be back at 210lbs.

This week started off great my weight was coming down to where I wanted it to be, lots of calorie counting and exercise :)  Ea sports Active 2 came in handy and I am still using it.   Friday was a beautiful day and could not skip the chance of hitting the slopes, so I went to Cascades for a few hours and skied alone.  It was refreshing and great, at the same time I could collect my thoughts as I am going through some things in my life right now that is fogging my mind per say, nothing like the great outdoors to burn off some calories in the meantime. Back when I was overweight and I ran into problems I would go out too a bar and drink my face off.  I guess this is part of the maturing and growing up part in life.  This morning (Feb 5th) I woke up late 8:30am, it felt good too sleep in and not be hung over like in the past. I fired up my laptop at 8:40am after I weighed myself and got ahold of my sister,  I sent her a post asking her if she was up for hitting the gym. Once again back in the day I would call some one too see if they were up for some drinking in the afternoon. Those days are gone, so we took off at 10:45am to the local Gym across town.  Karrie hopped on the treadmill, and I was right beside her on another treadmill. I was more or less doing sets, I would run for a few minutes and walk for a few minutes. By the time I got off after 75 minutes, I had done over 10k, and was over 700 calories burnt. Too cool down I did 20 minutes on a recumbent bike, not too bad 90 calories burnt. So two hours of exercise yielded me around 800 calories extra in my day..  Imagine a big mac and small fry is over 900 calories, as I said before 5 minutes to eat it, 2 hours to burn it off, unless you run at 16 km an hour for an hour then you would be over 1000 calories burnt.  Puts food into perspective really.

I've been sharing my information about my weight loss and some people have asked me too help them with trying to loose weight. This week I talked to a few people in my club that I am in on the PS3.  We give each tips and tricks to help loose weight, and share our progress as the days go on. I can honestly say that it makes me happy that people can come to me and look for advice on this issue. Obesity is a huge issue and some people ignore it, it can lead too so many disease's and even death. You have one chance at life and are ready to give up your life for food?

My next step in my journey is too tone up, I have some flab that I actually hate around my stomach and neck. P90x is going too be part of my DVD library soon. Untill then, thanks for reading.
